For Lucy, being a lesbian and creating lesbian-centered art are not separate parts of her life, they are deeply intertwined and inseparable. Her artistic expression is rooted in her identity, and much of the humor that characterizes her work comes directly from lived experience. Growing up, she encountered very few stories that accurately or positively reflected her experience as a lesbian. More often than not, the narratives that did exist were steeped in tragedy, shame, or invisibility. In response, she began creating the stories she wanted (and needed) to see: ones that are funny, unfiltered, emotionally rich, and above all, real.

Lucy believes that queer life is not only valid but profoundly entertaining. It’s awkward, joyful, messy, heartfelt, and full of its own unique rhythms, inside jokes, unexpected connections, and emotional plot twists. Her art aims to celebrate that complexity with honesty and warmth. Through playful illustrations that feature food, drinks, bold colors, and cheeky quotes, she captures the humor and beauty of lesbian identity in everyday life.

Her brand, Croissant Culture, is an extension of that mission. It reflects the many layers that make up each individual-quirky, soft, bold, and complex. Just like a croissant, every person carries layers of experience, identity, and personality. Lucy’s work invites people to show those layers proudly, whether through expressive home decor or wearable art that makes a statement in the world.
